Inspired by my current favorite food porn site, foodgawker.com, I decided shrimp tacos looked tasty and exactly what I wanted to put in my mouth for dinner.
I don't eat much fish, but when I crave it, I am convinced my body needs it.
I liked the initial recipe I found, but thought it lacked a little zing. So when we got into the kitchen, Jack and I drew our inspiration from several recipes, (and from what was available to us in the fridge), green cabbage, not our preferred more colorful red cabbage won out due do availability.
The sour cream was flavored with cumin (lots of cumin), cayenne pepper, black pepper and some chopped cilantro. The spice was a perfect compliment to the sour cream's tart flavor.
The cabbage was chopped with a shredded carrot, and tossed with olive oil, lime juice and a hint of dried basil
The shrimp was cooked in a sauce of lime juice, cayenne pepper, chili powder, garlic, olive oil, and salt and pepper. We still need to work on cooking them better, not our forte...maybe next time we will blacken them on a grill!
